We are sad to report the death of Cecil Leighton. Cecil was a recipient of a Dimmie Fleming Award in 1992 and the EBU Silver Award in 2011 following nomination by London Metropolitan Bridge Association in recognition of his truly exceptional services to the County and to bridge.
Cecil served on the LMBA Committee in a number of different capacities, including a period as Chairman, for some 54 years until his retirement at the LMBA AGM in the summer of 2011. This length of service deserves very special recognition in itself, but it is worth emphasising that he has been a very hard and active worker on behalf of bridge in the capital during all that time.
The funeral will be held on Monday 30 at 2pm at Woodland Cemetery, Bulls Cross Ride, Goff's Oak, Enfield, EN7 5PF.
Sitting shiva is at 8pm on the 2 evenings, Monday at 6 The Bowls, IG7 6NB and Tuesday at 73 Bawdsey Avenue, IG2 7TN.
