The Corwen Trophy and the new Nine-High Corwen took place this weekend.
Lloyd Eagling & Stan Zygadlo (pictured), of Nottinghamshire, won the Corwen Trophy with a score of 61.42% over the two days. In second place were Steve Eginton & Ed Scerri (Berks & Bucks) scoring 58.75% and in third were Neil Rosen & Anne Rosen (Middlesex) with 58.11%.
The event is for the leading pairs in the most recent pairs championship of each County Association of the EBU. This year the event was played face-to-face at Telford Hotel, Spa and Golf resort.
The Nine-High Corwen was new last year and is an equivalent event for players of NGS grade 9 or lower. The event was played online on Saturday. The winners were Henry Gompertz & Neil Harris (picture), of Cornwall, who scored 60.75%. In second place were Edward Hulme & Nigel Smith (Merseyside/Cheshire) with a score of 59.66% and in third were Peter Ellinger & Patricia Berry (Hants & IOW) with 59.17%.
