We are sad to report the death of Ken Rowe. Ken was the editor of English Bridge magazine from 1992 until 2002.
Ken was a devotee of the game of bridge, teaching it for many years, and playing the game until the end of his life as a member of both Honiton and Exeter Bridge Clubs - still winning tournaments in his final months. Prior to becoming editor of English Bridge, he was a successful journalist for various newspapers in Liverpool, Edinburgh and London, including the Liverpool Echo, the Scottish Daily Mail, the Daily Herald and The Sun.
After working many roles from reporter, to chief sub editor, to night editor, The Sun was acquired by Rupert Murdoch and, instead of returning to Scotland to work as editor for the Daily Record, Ken and a colleague, Frank Sharples launched their own newspaper in Honiton. After moving to East Devon, Frank and Ken started what was to become the Devon Newspaper Group.
Ken is survived by his wife, Anna, and children, Michael and Sarah. We extend our sympathy to Ken's family and friends.
