18 Feb UPDATE: The Knottenbelt team (pictured) has beaten De Botton 98-92. Congratulations to both medal-winning teams!
Congratulations also to the Foursquire team (Sebastian ATISEN, Brian CALLAGHAN, Brian McGUIRE & Graham ORSMOND) who were second in the Open BAM teams.
17 Feb UPDATE: The De Botton team beat the Turkish Eler team 89-49 in the semi-final and the Knottenbelt team beat SPS Poland 129-87, so both teams in the final have significant English membership. May the best team win!
In the Winter Swiss Cup the Gillis team (Simon GILLIS, Per Erik AUSTBERG, Christian BAKKE, Boye BROGELAND, Arild RASMUSSEN & Erik SAELENSMINDE) won the Semi-Final B.
16 Feb - Several teams with English players have performed well at the European Bridge League's 3rd European Winter Transnational Championships in Prague. The Dyson team (Andrew DYSON, Peter CROUCH, Ben HANDLEY-PRITCHARD & Tom TOWNSEND) beat the very strong Zimmerman team to reach the quarter-finals of the main Open Teams Championship and both the De Botton team (Thomas CHARLSEN, Nicolai HEIBERG-EVENSTAD, Geir HELGEMO, Espen ERICHSEN, Thor Erik HOFTANISKA & Artur MALINOWSKI) and the Knottenbelt team (Maggie KNOTTENBELT, Michael BYRNE, Oscar NIJSSEN, Ben NORTON, Stefano TOMMASINI & Tim VAN DE PAVERD) are in the semi-finals, meaning our teams are certain to win at least one medal.
Good luck to both those teams for the final stages!
