More Than Just Bridge: EBED’s Spring Youth Camp Delivers Fun, Adventure, and Sportsmanship

The EBED Spring Bridge Youth Camp was held in the fresh bloom of Shropshire. The camp was a vibrant mix of competition, learning, and outdoor fun that proved bridge isn't just for the card table—it's a gateway to community, confidence, and connection.

While bridge remained at the heart of the event, the camp offered a rich variety of activities that kept spirits high and energy flowing throughout. Between climbing walls, intense games of football, and high-flying rounds of ultimate frisbee, the young people and older family members embraced every challenge.

The climbing activity proved to be a popular addition.

But make no mistake: the bridge content was just as action-packed. There were five teaching groups including one for complete beginners, a Bronze Group a Silver Group, a Gold Group led by Charles Bucknell and a Diamond group who were treated to the expertise of Michael Byrne.

Three lively tournaments punctuated the camp’s competitive side:

Throughout the weekend, a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship infused everything. It wasn’t just about winning—it was about learning, laughing, and leveling up together. Friendships were forged over climbing harnesses and bridge hands alike, as new and returning players bonded through shared experiences both on and off the table.

In the end, EBED’s Spring Youth Camp wasn’t just a camp. It was a celebration of what makes bridge such a powerful game: a test of mind, a spark for fun, and a bridge between people. Numbers of attendees have doubled from the same venue in 2023, and judging by the smiling faces and glowing reviews, many will return next year.
