The Northern Midweek Congress has now concluded, with Harrogate the venue for three days of weekday bridge.
The Swiss Teams competition was won be the team of Ollie Burgess, Alice Coptcoat, Jason Hackett & Maria Whelan (pictured). They finished with 92 VPs from six matches, 6 VPs ahead of Val Gibson, Pearl Murphy, Martin Kane & Bill March. In third place were the team of Karen Lemm, Martin Fenton, Tony Murray & Tony Johnson with 77 VPs.
The Swiss Pairs was won by John Troiano & James Thrower (picture) who finished with 96 VPs, ahead of Alan Jarvis & Alan Hayward in second place, who finished with 92 VPs. Nigel Stuttard & Melvyn Cohen completed the podium with 86 VPs.
Athena Chow & Tom Copeland (picture) won the Open Pairs with a score of 61.93%. Just behind in second place were Gillian Almond & Irene Boothman with a score of 61.71%. The third placed pair were Colin Jones & Catherine Thompson with 60.63%.
The Jack High Swiss Pairs was won by Jane Holdrick & Sue Wright (picture) who finished with 81 VPs from five matches. In second place were Lesley Forman & Paul Royle with 72 VPs. In joint third place were Fiona Taylor & Hope Taylor and John Heath & Caro Hunt who both finished with 65 VPs.
