The Selection Committee has confirmed that it plans to hold trials to decide the entries for the 2026 European Team Championships and wishes to invite players to share their views on how the success of the English teams would be best served by choices of formats and the sequencing of trials, as well as any preferences on venues.
The proposed order of trials is: Open – Mixed – Women – Seniors with closing dates for entries to be set to allow entries to the next trial after the preceding one is complete but with players that qualify for an earlier series being ineligible to play in subsequent trials.
Please send emails to sc.chair@ebu.co.uk by Friday 14th February to allow views to be considered at the next meeting of the Selection Committee.
The current International Funding policy provides that the EBU will pay all of the teams' entry fees and will supply uniforms for the European Championships. Open players and all NPCs can expect that they will be reimbursed reasonable travel and hotel expenses as calculated by the Board. Players in the Mixed, Women's and Seniors categories will be expected to cover their own expenses.
Note that the policy is being reviewed as part of the annual budgeting process and there may be increased support if funding is available.
