With the death of Anne Schofield, president of Lancashire CBA, a stalwart of bridge in the North West has been lost. Anne gave many years of service as county secretary, first to the old North West CBA and then to one of its successors, Lancashires CBA, until ill heath forced her to give up this role in 1997. She then continued to attend LCBA meetings and was an active member of the executive committee until the end.
Anne player a major part in establishing Lancashire as an independent and effective county association. She was the holder of an EBU Dimmie Fleming Award for her outstanding service to bridge at county level.
At Bolton Bridge Club, of which she was a life member, Anne served with distinction in various appointments, culminating in club president from 1983-86.
