David Sargent

I was born in January 2006 and come from the Isle Of Man.

My dad played bridge, and I got a fascination for the game after hearing about him playing and going with him to tournaments as early as age 2, (I was looking round the zoo while he played). Eventually I got to play as well in a small club above The Legion Pub on a Friday night, starting in 2018. I got my lucky break during covid, when I won the Berwick Swiss Teams in 2021. Upon realising that a 15 year old had won the event, I was passed on to the capable hands of Alan Shilitoe and Giorgio Provenza (after every attempt to try and make me Scottish).

Before aging out and being taken under the wing of Ewa, Charlie and Stephen; I was selected in the 2021 online U16 Channel Trophy. Since then, I got selected and won the 2024 Peggy Bayer and, as an individual, got a second place finish in the Highland Congress teams. I am (as of time of writing) going to play in the U21 Channel Trophy!

Outside of Bridge I am doing an integrated masters Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Manchester. I am a keen hockey and cricket player and regularly do serious mental damage to myself by watching Manchester United play football.
