While I'd always played lots of card games with my family and friends growing up, I'd never heard of bridge until reading The Cardturner by Louis Sachar, which happened to be just before starting at the University of Manchester. The novel was great and I was hooked before I'd even had a go at playing it. I immediately joined the university society and became the president a year later.

During my time at Manchester I joined the Under 26 England team, represented the University in the Portland Bowl, and began working at Manchester Bridge Club. Initially I simply worked behind the bar, but after a few years I was asked to take over some of the teaching sessions there, and that was the beginning of my teaching career.

After Covid I had to relocate to Suffolk, but I used the opportunity to expand my teaching of bridge online and gradually I made a name for myself locally as well and now I teach a wide variety of different courses and lessons all around the county. Bridge has been my life for many years now, both teaching and playing, and I'm so excited that I'm now a part of EBED as well!

When I'm not huddled over a bridge table, I'm very often travelling the world with my wife, or you'll find me at home in Bury St. Edmunds with our three crazy cats.
