County and Membership Development Officer
Mary’s role is to help county personnel support the clubs in their region with increasing their membership. This can involve a number of areas, and May can help facilitate feedback to different departments within the EBU and EBED.
However, her particular focus will be on helping to promote forthcoming open days, taster sessions and beginner classes. In many counties the County Bridge Association (CBA) knows who all the local teachers are and when their beginner courses are due to start. In others the picture is less clear. Once we know where and when the courses start, we can all collectively help ensure that they start with a full class of students, which is one of the primary sources of new members.
Mary is happy to support CBAs with technological solutions and with marketing ideas and with a spare pair of hands where needed. Her background is in business development and international marketing and she is happy to have a go at anything that needs to be done (subject to time constraints!) Mary is also a keen bridge club player, primarily in Sheffield but also anywhere she happens to be in the world - most recently in Barcelona!
Mary says:
"The beautiful thing about this coordination role is that bridge players, clubs, teachers, county associations, suppliers, competitors, and many others all want bridge in England to be in good shape. Exploring together the ideas, talents and resources available I am confident that we will achieve the growth we all want."
