Mollie Cole of Leicester died, aged 80, on 3rd June and her passing will be much mourned throughout the bridge world. She had been in failing health for some months
One of the earliest pioneers of the game in the provinces, to which her EBU number (45) bears witness, she was well known and much loved on both the pre-war and post-war years on the tournament circuit.
She was a member of the Rules & Ethics committee in the early 1950s and also the EBU Board shortly after the war.
Mollie and the late Mrs Millett, her regular partner were presented in Bridge Magazine (Nov 51) as “formidable” I am sure all who knew here remember her rather for her unfailing kindness and courtesy. Leicestershire bridge, in particular, owes her a great debt.
