Muriel Thruston

1917 - 2008

Muriel was born in 1917, and died on 5th March 2008.

She was delighted to receive the EBU’s Dimmie Fleming Award in 2003.

Muriel, a well-known figure around the county and at National events, always regarded bridge as a vehicle for people to socialise and make friends. Seeing the need for daytime bridge, she started the Tandem club round 1978, and this club still meets twice weekly. She always arranged a lunch break, and at the age of 86 was still preparing most of the food herself. She also ran regular weekend events.

Muriel made an amazing contribution to bridge in Surrey and is sadly missed.
