Phil Bennett

Dimmie Fleming Award citation - 2019 (nomination from Wiltshire)

Phil Bennett has recently retired from the post of Wiltshire CBA Treasurer after a period of over 15 years.

Phil’s financial skills ensured that the Wiltshire Committee could always be certain that there was a firm hand on the tiller. His advice was always practical and pragmatic and his service to the County went beyond the mere mundane contribution that might otherwise have been expected.

He provided balanced argument in Committee discussion and his long service and experience made him an invaluable asset. Besides looking after the County’s finances, Phil also did many “back room” tasks. As an example, for most County events, Phil would be the first to arrive and set up the tables and ensure all equipment was available. He would also make sure the hall was left in good order at the end of each event. Although Phil is no longer a member of the Wiltshire Committee, he is still an active player in the County and can still be relied on to roll his sleeves up and help in any way he can.
