Reuben Myers

1919-2001

Manchester was deeply saddened by the news of the sudden death of Reuben Myers, a true gentleman of bridge. Reuben, born in 1919, represented England in the Camrose Trophy in 1957, 1961, 1965, 1967 and finally 1970. He won the National Pairs in 1957 when this event was the toughest pa!rs competition in Europe. He won Crockfords in 1965 and his name is on all the NWCBA trophies throughout the 1950s, 60s and 70s, but he will be best remembered for his table presence. Reuben was the perfect partner, polite, generous in his compliments and only critical of poor play of his own making, which was very rare.
