Trevor received the Dimmie Fleming Award in 2024, recognising a long and valuable contribution to county bridge, below is the citation for his award from Northamptonshire:
Trevor’s nomination has been agreed unanimously by the Northants CBA committee.
For 35 years he has been a stalwart for Stamford Bridge Club and Northants CBA. He is also a member and regular player at Kettering, Spalding and Peterborough BCs.
Trevor has served on the county committee for over well over two decades. Currently he is a committee member, our county selector running the county’s three teams, EBU shareholder and he keeps the county calendar up to date. He directs the county’s home fixtures. From 2004 to 2016 he served as the county chairman.
At Stamford BC he is the chief tournament director. He is the committee member with responsibility for behaviour and incident management. He is the go to person for expertise on the Laws and the use of technology. He has been a mentor for improvers both online during the pandemic and now at weekly sessions in the club.
As a ‘buddy’ in the Stamford Youth Bridge Academy, Trevor coached a group of students at Uppingham School on a weekday evening over a number of years finishing when Covid stuck.
This brief resume has given the impression of a man who devotes a great deal of his life to ensure the smooth running of bridge at both county and club level. He is most generous with his time, selflessly serving club and county as well as encouraging and helping weaker players to improve.
Northants considers that Trevor would be a most worthy recipient of this award.
