Steve Galpin from Halifax Bridge Club gives an update to their 75th Anniversary celebrations:
Well two events are now over, the final event will be on 26th with dinner and cabaret.
The first event was on 6th April with a 75 board marathon and was very well attended and organised. We played 25 boards with random pairs in the morning, two four table round robins in the afternoon then pairs event in the evening. There were many spot prizes along the way, including 'defeat a contract by two', 'defeat a contract by three' and 'small slam bid and made', along with many more. All in all there were approximately 30 different prize categories!
The next event was my event on 13th on RealBridge when I had hoped for 75 tables. Unfortunately, this was very disappointing as I only managed six tables and only two pairs from outside of Halifax. One of the guest pairs didn’t turn up and the other pair won the trophy.
