EBED New English Bridge School

Dear Club Chairman, Secretary or Main Contact

I’m writing to tell you of some exciting news which will impact on how your teachers  recruit and train students in the future. We are telling you the news now, as we want to give you as much notice as possible to prepare and plan for the new teaching term in September. Even if you are not sure yet when your club will be reopening its doors, we are providing your teachers with the tools to run online courses, to make sure you maintain the flow of new students in these challenging times.

EBED are launching a brand new learning portal called English Bridge School (EBS) which will allow your teachers to gain access to a whole new suite of material to support on-line bridge teaching. All current material will still be available on the EBED teacher zone and additionally the new material held on EBS will be available to all EBTA teachers who wish to access it.

We anticipate EBS will be available in early August, initially with lessons which will cover the first term of learning, enabling teachers to recruit and enroll beginners for the Autumn term.

Using Google’s G suite, we are building a new bridge resource library with lesson plans, presentations, videos, deal files and hand records. We are working in the background to add additional lessons for a smooth transition into the second and third terms. The lesson structure is modular and compliments the Bridge for All teaching method so can be used either alongside the EBED publications or as a stand-alone resource. Our aim is to create a “one stop” portal where everything a bridge teacher could possibly want is readily available and just a click away!

The website has been built to ensure it is user friendly and easy to use. If your club teachers’ are not currently teaching bridge online, please encourage them to check out EBS as I’m sure they will find using the  material very straightforward. To make sure of this, EBED will also be providing full training via tutorials and video conferences. We will cover how to register, access the material and tailor the material and classrooms to your teachers’ requirements.

The great news is EBS will be available FREE of charge to all EBTA teachers. Once they have registered on the website as a teacher, the club’s students will be able to gain access to the classrooms by paying a small monthly subscription. As always EBED will be here to support bridge teaching in all the ways we have done in the past and we also invite you to share with us the innovations for the future.  We welcome your feedback and look forward to hearing how EBS has helped your club deliver the highest level of bridge teaching.

We will update you again soon and look forward to meeting you in English Bridge School.
