Please consider adding this to your club/county website and encourage your members to enter online via My EBU. Nominations for Board Nominations for EBU Board, to be elected prior to the AGM on 26th November, close at midday on 29th October. Any nomination must come from a county shareholder so those who might be interested in standing should contact a shareholder. Shareholders should have already been sent nomination papers and information, which includes the number of places available, but may contact Kay Carter - kay@ebu.co.uk for more information. Update from the Competitions Working GroupWe are delighted to announce that we have a new venue for both the Year End Congress 2025 and the Easter Congress in 2026: Chablis Suite, Novotel West London. Special Group Offers for Clubs: Clubs can contact comps@ebu.co.uk to enter the Mixed/Open Pairs a minimum of four players at the same time, they can bring up to as many players again free. 100 Deals for 100 Years: The next in the series of online events celebrating 100 years of contract bridge will take place this Sunday (5th October). Please encourage your members to take part in these fun events. In between the rounds players will be presented with postcards from the two decades, with stories about the wonderful people who have contributed to the game, in their own way. If you haven't watched it yet, check out this short video documenting the rise of contract bridge, starting in 1925. As a reminder, entries are closing soon for the NICKO (Monday 6th October) & Tollemache Cup (Friday 24th October). Club Members' Details As a reminder for clubs, please let us know when a member is deceased by emailing Amanda@ebu.co.uk. We need to know so we can close their records and to prevent us sending emails to their spouses/families causing upset. Are your club teachers listed in the directory? Please make sure your club website helps learners find lessons. If your club has lessons, show them prominently. If your club knows of a local teacher, show their contact details. If your county association has details of lessons, display a link to them. Otherwise display a link to the EBU Teacher Directory. Appendix Tables As a reminder, if you would like to run a second section for less experienced players alongside your main section then we have two videos to help. If your second section will only be one or two tables then you can use Appendix Tables or if it will be three or more tables then use a second section. EBUScore - Bridgemate Connectivity Issue Some clubs have reported an issue with Bridgemate Control Software (BCS) closing immediately after launching. This has been caused by a recent Windows 11 update and full details can be found in this article. To fix the issue please download and install version 4.0.97 (or later) of BCS from this page. Then update to the latest versions of EBUScore and ClubScore, the installers for these can be found on the EBU downloads page. Use the club My EBU login details to access the downloads page or club scorers can use their personal My EBU login details. Junior Autumn Bridge CampMake a note in your diary for EBED’s Junior Autumn Bridge Camp will be held from Friday 31st October to Sunday 2nd November 2025, at Juniper Hall, Dorking, Surrey. The bridge camps are residential weekends of bridge tuition, competitions and other fun activities. The camp is for young people aged 7-26, and are suitable for complete beginners through to England Squad members. Accompanying adults are welcome to book with their younger family members and can participate fully in all tuition and competitions. Prices are unchanged from last year - £150 for the weekend including 2 nights accommodation, all meals, bridge tuition and competitions. How do I book? Regular Youth Bridge Sessions Thursday Afternoon Bridge Club takes place on RealBridge 4:15pm - 6:15pm drop in/out anytime. It is suitable for all levels of under 18s. It is excellent opportunity for a young person looking to do a Duke of Edinburgh Award Skill. The EBU funds a Club Teacher Training place for one delegate from each affiliated club every two years. This offer now also applies to Club Director Training: if a club has not used its Teacher Training place in the past two years, it may instead use the offer for a Director Training place. In both cases, the delegate or club pays upfront and is reimbursed by the EBU. For Teacher Training courses, if a club sends one delegate, a second from the same club may attend the same course free of charge—regardless of whether the first place was EBU-funded. This offer applies to both affiliated and unaffiliated clubs. The second delegate may train as either an assistant or lead teacher. Advertise your Congress Online with the EBU
