Dear EBU member
During these strange and unprecedented times we are all having to adapt. The EBU have been working hard to try and keep as many of you as possible playing the game you love. Whether it be in your new Virtual Clubs or in one of the many EBU BBO tournaments, thousands of you have embraced a whole new world, some making new acquaintances and alliances.
Over the next few weeks we will be running a number of national virtual events.
We have a range of competitions suitable for experienced congress players and those looking for a more challenging game, some of these are highlighted below. There really is something for everyone - we hope there's something here to take your fancy.
The British Summer Sim Pairs
The British Summer Sim Pairs will now take place online from 20th - 23rd July, hosted on BBO. The competition format will remain the same as past sims events and your club can choose their own start time. This event is open to all virtual clubs, if your club doesn't yet have a Virtual Club, please contact johnathan@ebu.co.uk for help in setting one up.

The Online Summer Meeting - Virtual Eastbourne
The Summer Meeting will now be held as a series of online events, from 1st - 9th August.
The first weekend of the Summer Meeting there will be Championship Pairs, with Midweek Knockout Teams and Championship Teams the second weekend.
First Weekend: Championship Pairs
Saturday 1st - Qualifying sessions
Sunday 2nd - Finals and consolation events
Midweek Knockout Teams
The Knockout Teams will be a double elimination, if suitable numbers enter, with consolation events for those eliminated early - all teams will be guaranteed at least two matches.
Second Weekend: Teams Championship
Friday 7th/Saturday 8th - Swiss Teams (Old style with different boards in each match)
Sunday 9th - Teams finals for top teams, Swiss Teams continue for the rest
Extra events
- Discuss with the Experts seminars on Zoom – 11am on 1st Sunday and Monday when boards from the previous day’s pairs events will be in discussed.
- Late-night speedballs at 10.30pm on the two Saturdays – 16 boards each, IMP pairs on the first Saturday.
