EBU BBO Virtual Clubs Update

Dear Club and County Chairs, Main Contacts, Treasurers and Secretaries

This letter is to all our Virtual Clubs about two things: charging for teams games and payments for June.

I have spoken to BBO about their proposals for charging for teams games and made the point that many clubs have teams leagues already in progress, which were budgeted without the expectation of having to pay a fee to BBO. They have agreed that charging for teams games should not now start until September and they will clarify exactly how it will work by then.

On the question of payments from BBO from June, I know many of you are frustrated by the delay in receiving them and that some of you are under financial pressure because of this. We are frustrated by this too and so we have decided to make partial payments to all clubs that will be due money for June (obviously clubs that pay BBO on a monthly basis will not be due any money).

We have daily records from BBO for this period and so we will advance you a payment today, equivalent to 60% of the table fees collected for your club in June. This is deliberately a bit less than we expect you to end up getting, so that we don’t have to recoup any money from you at a later stage, and we will make a balancing payment when we have actually received the proper reports for the period.

I hope this will ease some of the pressure that many of you are feeling. We will do the same thing for July in about a fortnight if we have not had the reports for that month by then.

Yours sincerely,

Gordon Rainsford
