Changing a movement in advance

I wish to edit a movement on EBUScore Teams in advance of the event to shorten it by one round (I want to delete the round were every pair play against the same team as their partners). Can anybody tell me how to do this?

Open the movement file in a text editor and delete the final three numbers and commas from each line of the relevant movement as indicated below by strikethroughs.

    American Whist - 4 Matches 5 Boards (NBL T8 Sessions 1 & 2)
    5,5,25,5,4
    1,3,1,1,5,2,1,2,3,1,4,4
    2,4,2,2,1,3,2,3,4,2,5,5
    3,5,3,3,2,4,3,4,5,3,1,1
    4,1,4,4,3,5,4,5,1,4,2,2
    5,2,5,5,4,1,5,1,2,5,3,3

If you are doing this to one of the standard movements in the TSMovements.txt file, you would be well-advised to create a copy of it first so that you don't lose the original movement.

EDIT - fuller and better answer from Robin below.

  • One approach is to find the movement in TSMovements.txt and copy the relevant block of text to a new file TSUserMovements.txt

    [M137] Stagger - 3 Matches 7 Boards (Garden Cities T8 Session 2)
    5,8,28,7,3
    1,3,1,1,5,2,1,7,3
    2,4,2,2,6,3,2,8,4
    3,5,3,3,7,4,3,1,1
    4,6,4,4,8,1,4,2,2
    5,7,1,5,1,2,5,3,3
    6,8,2,6,2,3,6,4,4
    7,1,3,7,3,4,7,5,1
    8,2,4,8,4,1,8,6,2

Edit the first line so that the movement has a different name.

Change the last number on the second line to one fewer (this is the number of rounds)

The subsequent lines are the data for each table, the head-to-head round is the middle round, so delete '1,5,2,' from the line for table 1, '2,6,3,' from the next line, etc. (be careful to delete the commas)

    Save the file.

In EBUScore Teams, Administration panel, change the 'User Movement File' to be the TSUserMovements.txt file.

In the Movement panel, select the number of tables and select 'club' or 'standard and club' in the buttons bottom right, and the movement you created should appear in the list of movements. Select the movement and look at the movement cards to make sure it is what you wanted.
