Hand template

Does this forum have an easy to access hand template so that we can see a complete layout easily?

Whilst a poster may prefer to give a single hand at the outset, it is often helpful to see the complete layout (and may help to avoid polarity errors, anticlockwise auctions and the like).

  • Apparently there is software called Vanilla available, if any IT experts on the forum want to investigate.

Not a great solution but you can use HTML tables to achieve this,

    AKxxx
    T9xx
    xx
    xx
    QJx
    AKQJ
    xxx
    xxxx

    Deal N
    All Vul
    xxxx
    xxx
    xx
    AKQJ
    x
    xx
    AKQJxx
    xxxx

A more generic one would look like this,

    Spades
    Hearts
    Diamonds
    Clubs
    Spades
    Hearts
    Diamonds
    Clubs

    Deal NSEW
    NSEW Vul
    Spades
    Hearts
    Diamonds
    Clubs
    Spades
    Hearts
    Diamonds
    Clubs

If you want to copy using this just quote my post and fill in the relevant bits, taking care not to touch anything within the <>, I'll try and look for a more elegant solution though.

For Bidding you can also use tables, but they can be written a lot easier in Markdown tables

    N E S W
    P 1NT
    P 2!h* P 3!s*
    P P P

They are pretty simple to use, just use the | to separate the bits of the table, an important thing is to have the second line always be |-|-|-|-| otherwise the table won't work correctly.

A more generic one would look like this,

    WNES
    1♠ Pass3♠ Pass
    4♣(1) Pass4♠ Pass
    4NT Pass5♦; Pass
    5♥ Pass5NT Pass
    6♣(2) Pass6♠ Pass
    7NT Passpass Pass
    ♠ AKQJ

    Deal NSEW
    NSEW Vul
    ♠ 5432
    ♥ 5432
    ♦ 5432
    ♣ 2

    (1) - After long hesitation
    (2) - Alerted (by mistake)

    This may be more suitable.

  • Thank you both for your helpful suggestions.

  • Another option if editing HMTL tables doesn't sound like fun is using a website like http://cimms.ou.edu/~lakshman/bridge/handlayout.htm where you can type in everything relevant and then simply paste the code into here.
