  • "Entering the wrong score on the Bridgemate" used to be the reason for about half my director calls.

  • My experience is that the "boards per round" setting in the Format tab is not used if there is a mismatch in what you are trying to do. The system gets as close as possible to the total number of boards specified in the Format tab.

    Thus …

I'm aware that repeating the substitution process (sub user1 with user 1) "fixes" them in place ... it's getting rid of the robots that is problematic. Having subbed Sitout with Robot (x2) ... trying to sub Robot with user1 gives an e…

Interesting ... I've had difficulties trying to sub a pair of robots (added to fill a half table) directly when a human pair become available.

  • Do you use the +allavail+ "descriptor string" ? This would delay the start and give the host some indication what is going on. Very helpful if your players suffer random disconnections.

I can't see how a normal duplicate movement of 3 or more tables can fit within the guidance quoted above, Playing a teams match (or several) - without a director - seems OK, not much more. Stay Safe!.

Absolutely correct ... however, the 1H bid hit the table somewhere between the bid and but ... now what?

  • Following system updates / reloads last night ... Chrome /Chromium is blocking the download of .pbn files. There doesn't seem to be a way to accept the risk, just "this was blocked; click to discard the file". Happens on both Windows10 laptop an…

  • Nice, board number??

Opponents have a right to know what you know about your sides bids ... don't they? How hard would it be to add "and 6+ points" to the explanation given in the OP.

I still think West is more likely to get things right with all …

  • Isn't W more likely to bid if given all the information? Of course they should know better ... but with some opponents getting a complete explanation of bids can take some effort.

This looks like it is a way to not win a trick with the trump ace ...

  • Many thanks for all the suggestions. In the end my director came up with a novel solution: 2 sets of boards with a relay between T1 and T11; EW move down two tables with boards moving down one table. This is fine for the first 4 moves but needs…

  • I would be inclined to start pairs playing only the second session with an adjustment to exactly 50% VPs. If you have more than one such pair then, as far as possible, they get to play each other in their first match. The initial adjustment is …

  • If you want a "handicap" result then the NGS column for the session once processed by EBU looks like a good bet. This shows the deviation from the pairs expected score ... the more +ve the better. Of course how you access this is another questi…

I had this happen at a congress once! I was directing and it caused much confusion, even for declarer. Only point you may have wrong is that L51b allows only the cards in the suit required/forbidden to be picked up, not all that rema…

  • Elizabeth,
Within EBU jurisdiction the Blue Book contains bidding box regulations and BB 3Z A 2 has "A call is considered to have been made when the call is removed from the bidding box with apparent intent (but the TD may apply Law 25)."

  • When you "Create New Event" it seems to take the settings from the last event created rather than to the default settings. The scoring method can be changed at any time without affecting any results collected though players might be confused as …

  • We need to know more about the methods this NS use and any agreement they have for the sort of bid that 2H represents. For me and those I play with it would show little or no tolerance for the suits I've shown and expect me to pass.
    I coul…

  • Why can't 3H show a hand with a singleton spade and a self supporting heart suit ... I find it a bit too glib to just say partner is clearly an idiot so I can bid what I want. I also agree with Tag that we could easily end up in a doubled slam …

  • As with others, I think we need to see the deal to make a ruling. A useful exercise might be a "screen test". Imagine how the auction would have gone playing with screens. N and S neither see alerts nor hear explanations - these are done in wri…

  • Interesting ... is the break in tempo and potential use of UI not an (potential) irregularity?
    L9A4

For the first part, I fail to see how a single syllable "a" contains information on suit or rank to designate a card. If it doesn't do this, how do you know it isn't in dummy?

  • Suppose you run a 7.5 table relay and share Mitchell movement with NS at table 1 missing and 8x3-board rounds (arrow switch last round). All the NS pairs will play 24 boards; all the EW pairs will play 21 boards. In a match-point pairs game the…

As noted above L40B2d covers the first point. I agree with the second point (but see below): which Law or regulation applies?

I have to admit that I habitually arrange dummy for NT contracts, C, D, H, S (from declarers left to…

I understand and accept all this. What I find difficult is that - presumably - having evaluated your hand using a more or less strict point count and shape to be a 15-17NT opening you then switch to a different evaluation method to de…

You probably routinely play against players far better than me, and they would be far better able than I to interpret your last sentence. For me it is far too close to ... "I'm not going to tell you"
