Club Management Focus: Spring 2012

National Grading Scheme

by Barry Capal

I hope you are all aware that the EBU’s National Grading System went live in early March. I am delighted to say that this appears to have been very well received! In case you haven’t stumbled upon it yet, go to your personal members area on the web site and click on the “NGS Info” button.

It is, of course, early days in its development, and there will be more to come in the future. At the moment we have restricted the grades calculated to club pairs events (and multiple teams), and EBU and County Pairs events. In the future we will extend the grading to include team events wherever we can.

At the moment people are still getting used to their grades and how it all works. There is a large amount of information available on the EBU website which answers most questions, and a future edition of English Bridge will carry some more informed comment in due course. In addition, we are responding to a number of queries sent to us by email with an aggregated response, which will also go on the web site.
