Penalties

The L&E have produced guidance to tournament directors on the application of procedural and disciplinary penalties. This came into force on August 1st and can be found in the 2012 White Book. The idea is to standardise penalties for offences so that players experience more consistency in this area.

They cover offences relating to

• the interfering with the smooth running of an event e.g. Arriving late or slow play
• Not conforming to the Laws or Regulations e.g. Fielded red psyches, failure to announce or alert
• Behaviour e.g. Arguing with the director or mobile phone offences

The guidance is already being used at EBU events. Clubs and Counties are free to take up this guidance if they find it helpful.
