Club Management Focus: Spring 2013

Welcome to Club Management Focus.

We are sad to announce that due to health reasons Val Gibson has resigned from the Board of the EBU and her role as Chair of the National Club Committee. I am sure you will join with me in thanking Val for the excellent work she has done with the NCC and we wish her well for the future.

We want to achieve continuity with our national club committee and the dedicated regional and county representatives that work on all of our behalf. I have been a member of the NCC since its inception in 2008, so for the foreseeable future I will be looking after this important aspect of the EBUs work. The committees efforts help ensure that we supply our clubs and members with relevant services that will enhance all that you do and enable you to attract many more members, so that your club will thrive for many years to come.

This issue is packed full of useful information for club managers and committees. This edition includes details on the changes we have made to universal membership policy on the number of sessions a club needs to play to qualify for affiliation, and the facility to provide the magazine to those members of clubs who never progress from supervised play sessions.

Other articles included in this edition: details of new EBU Blue Pointed Holidays, an extract from the Club Management Handbook about integrating new players into the club environment, some news about the forthcoming re-design of the EBU website, including a few tips on things that you can do on the website, an article about teaching at the Meon Club and news of a new technological development in scoring via smartphones.

We are getting feedback that the newsletter doesnt seem to be reaching all the members of our club management committees. We would be very grateful if you forward this to the relevant individuals in your club. If you are having difficulties doing this or if you want to update us with contact information please get in touch with Matt or Andrew who will be able to assist you.

Please do keep in touch with your county and regional club representatives, we really want to hear how we can work together to help us all get the best for our clubs.

If you would like Andrew Urbanski to visit you over the coming months to detail the services available from the EBU please contact him on 01296 317 206 or andrew@ebu.co.uk
