Junior Bridge Events

Young Bridge Challenge

The 2016 Young Bridge Challenge will be held on Saturday 5th March at Loughborough Grammar School.

It is a one-day bridge event for school-age players of all experience levels. Entry is free, and it consists of:

SSchools Cup for teams of four players all from the same school.
HSwiss Teams for teams of four players from bridge clubs, schools or mixed teams from more than one school.
DMinibridge Pairs for players of school age who have just started learning the game.
CShort pairs duplicate for accompanying adults.

This event is great fun for players of all abilities as there is something for all, whether competing for prizes, or just playing bridge and socialising with their peers.

Please see here for the webpage, or here for an entry form.

EBED Students and Schools - National Simultaneous Pairs

A sim pairs event open to all bona fide bridge students who are currently having lessons through an EBUTA teacher, Bridge for All or any other teaching scheme. It is also open to schools. Heats can be run any time between the dates of Monday 22nd February and Friday 1st April 2016, and more than one session can be held if needed. A minimum of one table is all that is needed to hold a heat so even the smallest of groups can be involved.

The event gives students the opportunity to play in one of their first national events, competing against all the other students entering across the country. It is fun to play in, with just the right amount of challenge to make it exciting and interesting! A hand commentary is provided so both students and teacher can consider the hands where they could have done better.

Around 250 pairs took part in 2015, and we hope to have more this year. Entry is free and is made by bridge teachers on behalf of their group.

Please see here for the webpage.

Thank you in advance for helping the next wave of bridge players to flourish.

The Junior Teach-In 2016

Unfortunately EBED has decided to cancel the Junior Teach-In in 2016. Due to a number of the teachers being involved with other events over the summer it hasn’t been possible to find a date on which the usual high level of teaching and competitions can be provided. So rather than disappoint the junior players who attend, the event will take a break this year, and return in 2017 refreshed and ready to go!
