General Data Protection Regulation

Hopefully your club has undertaken the work required to be compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation from 25th May, however we are still here to help if required. The information on our website hopefully has the information you need, along with templates which you can use (and adapt if needed) to meet your requirements. Please see www.ebu.co.uk/gdpr for the details. If you are still unsure of anything, please contact Gordon Rainsford – gordon@ebu.co.uk – who will hopefully be able to help. Please note, however, that this is no substitute for professional, legal advice, and that should always be sought if you feel it is necessary or relevant.

Please be aware that compliance with the GDPR is not a one-off action. ‘Data protection’ has always been an area where everyone has had responsibilities and this will continue to be the case in the months and years ahead. You should ensure that you have processes in place to remain compliant with the requirements of the GDPR.

Sandra Nicholson, of Summertown BC, has produced a helpful list of actions which you may find useful – not only when looking at whether you have done what is required before 25th May, but also when you consider how you need to act in order to continue to meet your responsibilities. This is available here. Thanks to Sandra for sharing this.
