Club Management Focus: Summer 2019

Chipping Sodbury Garden Party

Chipping Sodbury bridge club has raised more than £200 for charity at its first garden party.

Tudor Bridge Club held the event at St Lawrence Presbytery on July 3 to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Nearly 30 bridge players came along for the day, both from the local area and as far afield as Worcestershire and Wiltshire.

As well as playing bridge throughout the morning and afternoon, the guests socialised over a lunch that included dishes made by former MasterChef winner James Nathan, who is currently head chef at Bristol Lido.

Beautiful weather meant that everyone could enjoy afternoon tea in the bunting-bedecked garden.

Tudor Bridge Club member Christine May said the Garden Party had been such a success that they would make it an annual event.

Tudor Bridge Club has been running for more than 30 years and has over 60 members. It meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm in St Lawrence Church parish hall, Broad Street, Chipping Sodbury.

Courses begin in September for absolute beginners and for intermediate players, starting with a free taster session. Call Christine on 07876 334 921 for details.
