First EBED Autumn Simultaneous Pairs raises £15,000

The first EBED Autumn Simultaneous Pairs event was held over the week of September 8-12th 2014, raising close to £15,000 for English Bridge Education & Development. Almost 200 clubs up and down the country (as well as one Scottish club) took part in this first national fundraising event on behalf of the charity, boosting its efforts to promote the learning and playing of bridge across the community. All participants were able to enjoy expert commentary on the deals, provided by internationally recognised top players, teachers and journalists such as Sally Brock, Brian Senior, Paul Bowyer and Mike Pomfrey.

The current leaders of the heats are:

Monday 8th September Aileen Cunningham and Chris Stenning Morpeth Bridge Club
Tuesday 9th September Pam Taylor and Clive Richardson Welwyn Garden City Bridge Club
Wednesday 10th September Jackie Davies and John Neville Leverstock Green Bridge Club
Thursday 11th September Malcolm Dawson and David Thompson Bishop Auckland Bridge Club
Friday 12th September Ponn Yogeswaran and Kiku Lester Friends Bridge Club

The winners at every club taking part will be entered into an EBU prize draw with generous prizes of up to £1000 per pair. A similar award is available to the clubs - with the winners for both draws being announced at the EBU AGM in November.

The results, more information on the prize structure, and details of future simultaneous pairs events can be found here

A big thank you to all those who participated in making this first EBED Autumn SIMS such a great success.
