Bridge makes the world go round

Scientists recently identified a mineral that makes up 38% of the earth, and they have named it bridgmanite. Reports suggest that the most abundant substance on the planet has been named after an eminent scientist, Percy Bridgman, but surely this naming is just an acknowledgement that bridge makes the world go round?!
