Evan Harris

Dr Evan Harris is a former Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon. He held the seat from 1997 to 2010 as a member of the Liberal Democrat party.

He was educated in Liverpool and California before completing his education at Wadham College, Oxford, and the Oxford Medical School where he received a Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery and qualified as a doctor in 1991.

Since his time in Parliament he has written for the Guardian on government science policy, and is currently Associate Director of Hacked Off, the 'Campaign for a Free and Accountable Press'.

Evan has been a regular participant in the House of Lords v House of Commons bridge match, both during his time as an MP, and also in recent years. He has served as President of Oxfordshire Bridge Association and has spoken in Parliament on the issue of mind sports being suitably recognised by the Government.
