The Field Cup

Contract Bridge July 1953 has this to say about the Field Cup

This year, continuing its policy of promoting duplicate bridge for the ordinary player, the LCCBA in conjunction with “The Field” who are presenting a handsome Challenge Trophy are launching another new pairs event Mr Pat Cotter, the new President, thought up the idea of a contest between pairs who were “Old Boys” (or “ Old Girls”) of the same school.

The competition went national in 1956 with the first final played in London, was extended to those who had attended the same college or university

It ended in 1977
