Holland & Mould defend titles at Scarborough Congress

John Holland & Alan Mould (both Manchester) starred at the Scarborough Summer Congress, defending both the Multiple Teams and Swiss Pairs events.

Playing with Jeremy Dhondy & Bill Hirst (Kent) (team pictured left), who were also their partners in 2014, they finished third in their qualifying section, and then went on to dominate the final, winning by 29 IMPs. The team of Simon Cope (Middlesex), Alistair Kent (Channel Islands), Duncan Happer (Leics) & Ben Green (Londonn) were second, with Jason Hackett (Staffs), John Sansom (Wrocs), Steve Raine (Notts) & Chris Cooper (Oxon) in third.

The 'B' final of the teams event was won by Glenda Lloyd, Peter Boardman (both Cumbria), Sally Wraight & Philip Wraight (both Westmorland) (picture).

John & Alan then went on to win the twelve round Swiss Pairs by 19 VPs (picture). They scored 90 out of a possible 100 on the final day to move up from sixth. Ciaran Coyne & Hugh McGann were second, with Geoff Kenyon & Carole Kelly (both Yorkshire) in third, a further 5.5 VPs behind.

The opening event was the Pre-Congress Pairs which was won by Simon Stokes & Alison Nichols (both Leics) (picture) on 62.5%, with Giles Ip & Gabriel Ip (both Norfolk) second on 61.9%.
