Over 100 participants at Junior Teach-In

The Junior Teach-In took place in Loughborough over the Bank Holiday weekend, with over 70 juniors, and over 30 accompanying adults, enjoying a weekend of bridge tuition, competitions and social activities.

The event was organised by the charity English Bridge Education and Development, and saw the launch of the new Junior Award Scheme. This important and exciting new initiative from EBED is designed to stimulate enthusiasm for junior bridge among young players, parents and educators. The scheme breaks down the skills required to develop from raw rookie to serious contender into a set of steps and milestones, and the participants must satisfactorily demonstrate the different techniques to achieve each level and progress to the next.

In addition, some of the participants took part in a 'learn in a weekend' programme, helping them quickly progress from 'novice to player'.

In the main pairs competition at the event the winners of the G W Arnott Davison Trophy were Oscar Selby & Harry Madden (pictured left). They were the highest placed junior pair, and finished with a score of 66.78%

EBED would like to thank all the volunteers and participants who took part in the event.
