Melvyn Rockfelt

d. 1976

The recent death of Dr Melvyn Rockfelt adds one more name to the ever-lengthening list of top-class players who are no longer with us. A general medical practitioner, he enjoyed both rubber bridge and duplicate, but perhaps because of his quiet and retiring nature he never quite made the impact on the tournament scene that his abilities warranted. Twice a Gold Cup winner, he was a good partner to many partners and will be much missed. To his wife Ruth and his son John we offer our sincere sympathy.
