Youth and family ties prevail at Riviera Congress

Junior players were on the top step of the podium for both of the events at the Riviera Congress this weekend.

Shahzaad Natt & Stefano Tommasini (both London) (pictured with EBU Board member, Rob Lawy), were winners of the Swiss Pairs competition. They finished on 167 VPs from their 12 matches, 6 points ahead of Warner Solomon & Alex Maddocks (both Devon). Rob Lawy (Avon) & Andrew Thompson (Norfolk) were a further VP behind in third.

The winners of the Swiss Teams competition was the all-Anoyrkatis team (all Devon), with juniors Sam and Theo teaming up with Sally and Harry to take the title (see picture here). They scored 96 VPs in their seven matches, with Chris Cooper (Oxon), Michael Short, Gareth Evans (both Avon) & John Atthey (Gloucs) in second on 93, and the Igoe team (London) third with 90 VPs.
