England U16s reach final of Youth Online Championships

England's U16 team has reached the final of the WBF Youth Teams Online Championships after a victory over the USA. Squad leader Giorgio Provenza takes up the story....

"After a 42-board battle England prevailed over USA 102-89. The good guys took their first lead on the 3rd board and then fought off any attempt of the American kids to come back.

The finale was a thriller though. The Americans had reserved their rights on an early board where they thought they had been damaged by a misclick. Had an appeal been upheld, it could have overturned the outcome of the match.

After some back and forth, whilst the evening was turning into night, they eventually conceded and we could all go to bed, happy and victorious.

The team are hitting form at an ideal time with the World Youth Team Championships just over a month away. We were delighted that Tetragon have become a primary sponsor of the U16 team, but there is still chance to donate to the fundraising to support all four teams heading to China. All donations, of any size, are gratefully received - see here for more information on the fundraising.
