The August 2019 issue of English Bridge is out now and will be delivered to eligible members in the next few days.
The 2019/2020 Members' Diary
With this magazine comes the diary for all qualifying members who have not opted out of receiving it. If there are any changes during the year you will be able to find them at www.ebu.co.uk/diary-changes. The government has sprung one surprise since the diary went to press. The Bank Holiday at the start of May has moved from Monday May 4th to Friday May 8th which is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
From 2020, if you wish to receive a copy of the diary you will need to opt in even if you currently receive it.
The best and easiest way to opt-in is by changing the setting on your account on MyEBU. Click on 'account' in the top right corner, select 'My details', and then in the 'account setting' section of the page, under the magazine/diary preference option use the drop down list to choose your preferred setting.
We believe this is the environmentally and financially responsible action to take in order to eliminate waste. If you do still wish to receive the diary, then please opt in and we will be very happy to send one to you.
Diary Date Changes
Unfortunately, the surprise change of the Bank Holiday at the start of May that the government sprung on us has affected the arrangements for three events:
- Schapiro Spring Foursomes dates have been changed from 1st - 5th May to 7th – 11th May 2020
- National Swiss Teams dates have changed from 9th - 10th May to 2nd - 3rd May 2020
- Cheltenham Congress dates have changed from 1st - 3rd May to 8th - 10th May 2020
These and any further changes during the year will be available to view at www.ebu.co.uk/diary-changes.

It’s over three years since our previous review of bridge apps available on electronic devices and we felt it time to update the information. The current reviews, can be read in the August magazine and are also available to view online. The previous reviews can still be read on page 16 of the December 2015 issue.
The online version, which contains extra content, is available via My EBU (use the 'Magazine' link in the top right corner of the My EBU webpage). More information on accessing and using the online version is available here.
