Burgess & Dhondy win Two Star Pairs

The Two Star Pairs, the main competition at the Autumn Congress, has been won by Ollie Burgess & Heather Dhondy (pictured, trophy presented by David Burn, left). They finished with a score of 58.19%, 1.7% ahead of Philip Wood & Graham Osborne in second place, and Mike Bell & Ben Norton were third with 56.14%.

The Two Star Pairs was the second competition in the 2018/19 Player of the Year Championship, and Ollie and Heather are new entries at 13th in the standings. Graham Osborne's second placed finish moves him into first place.

The Satellite Pairs (the 'B' final) was won by Shahzaad Natt & Stefano Tommasini (see picture here), who were just 0.97% ahead of Hanna Tuus & Scott Wang in second place.

The Swiss Pairs - for non-qualifiers, and those joining the congress after the qualifying rounds - was won by Catherine Curtis & Paul Fegarty, with Anne Rosen & Ian Draper and Cathy Smith & Andrew Smith in joint second.

The Congress continued with a multiple teams event, with a qualifying round, followed by three finals. The 'A final', for the Eastbourne Bowl, was won by John Sansom, John Hassett, Paul Hackett & Dave Debbage (see picture here), with Jonathan Clark, Kripa Panchagnula, Charles Bucknell & Oliver Powell in second, and the team of Martin Baker, Andrew Bannock, Jon North & David Arundel, in third.

The Burlington Cup (the secondary final) was won by Kiril Delev, Claire Robinson, Qian Li & Tony Ye (see picture here), and the Sussex Cup (the consolation final) was won by John Prust, Trupti Shah, Naomi Gibbs & Michael Rawlins (see picture here)
