Harrogate Congress Results

The Swiss Pairs event at the Harrogate Congress was won by Henry Rose & James Thrower (pictured) who claimed top spot. Fresh off the back of his win at the Peggy Bayer, Henry Rose is the youngest ever player to win an event at the Harrogate Congress. Second place went to the pair of Dave Robinson & Rob Lawy and Michael Byrne & Tom Slater in third. George Bak & Nichola Cockerill-Smith (pictured) came top in the B stratification and Scott Wang & Hanna Tuus (pictured) came to in the C stratification for the Swiss Pairs.

The main Swiss Teams event was won by the team of Geoff Kenyon, Carole Kelly, Robin Jepson & Alan Brosgill (picture), with the team of Michael Byrne, Tom Slater, Alec Smalley & Rhona Goldenfield taking second place. The B stratification was won by the team of Mark Tilley, Ufuk Cotuk, India Leeming & Shahzaad Natt, and the C stratification was won by the team of Scott Wang, Hanna Tuus, Daisy Dillon & Laura Ersek (pictured).

The congress began with Open, Mixed and Improvers Pairs and Improvers Teams competitions. The Open Pairs was won by Nick Woolven & Richard Winter (picture), finishing ahead of Ufuk Cotuk & Mark Tilley in second. The winners of the Mixed Pairs were John Brearley & Judy Brearley (picture), with Colin Porch & Beverley Basquil and Gillian Emerson & Peter Skuse in joint second place. The Improvers Pairs was won by Carole Wilson & Karen Kayes (picture), slightly ahead of second place John Ungar & Miranda Hughes. The Improvers Teams was won by Adrian Hornby, Helen Dickinson, John Ungar & Miranda Hughes (picture).

The Congress was run by Yorkshire Contract Bridge Association on behalf of the EBU.
