Phil King

Phil has enjoyed great success in his bridge career, firstly as a junior international in the late 1980s, and then in EBU tournaments, winning the Gold Cup, Year End Swiss Pairs, Brighton Four Stars Teams. He has played in the Camrose on multiple occasions across three decades and has also been a successful coach and NPC, guiding five Peggy Bayer winning teams, and also acting as coach at the Venice Cup and NPC at the World Olympiad.

After a break from the game, he returned, writing shortly after his comeback:

"Since becoming a fish at poker, Phil decided to return to the world of bridge. He is now a full-time player and coach and uses this to fund his rubber bridge losses against Zia and company in the TGR big game. After a brief tournament hot-streak towards the end of 2013, success has proved elusive.

He lives in Harrow-on-the-Hill with his wife Su."

Since writing this biography Phil has won a silver medal at the EBL's European Winter Games in February 2016.
