Brighton discussion schedule announced

The schedule for the 'Discuss it with an Expert' sessions to be held at the Brighton Congress has been announced.

This year we are delighted to welcome an esteemed group who between them have combined to earn (by our reckoning, and amongst other achievements): 3 European titles, 2 World Titles, 13 European and 3 World Championship appearances, over 50 Camrose and Seniors Camrose Caps, 12 Gold Cups, 10 Crockfords Cups, 11 Spring Foursomes titles, 5 Premier League titles, 9 medals as NPC or Coach in European and World Championships, and more Peggy Bayer (the Under-20s Home Internationals competition) titles than any other NPC in the history of the event. Combine this success as players and coaches with their talents as bridge authors, journalists and teachers, and we have a wonderful line-up.

Saturday 9th Andrew Robson OBE
Sunday 10th Brian Senior
Tuesday 12th Patrick Collins & Bill Hirst
Wednesday 13th John Holland & Gunnar Hallberg

Really Easy Afternoon in October at three venues

At the Autumn Congress in Peterborough we will hold another Really Easy Afternoon. It will take place on Friday 17th October, and we hope that you will join us, or encourage your friends and relatives to take part.

The event will also be held concurrently at Richmond Bridge Club and Bradford Bridge Club, and it will be scored across the three venues. The event at each venue is open to all - EBU members and non-members alike.

The event is intended as an introduction to 'congress bridge' for those who may have recently learned how to play, or have yet to take the next step in the development of their game. It is open to pairs and individuals, and to EBU members and non-members alike.

Of course for more experienced players there is the main congress, held at the same venue from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th October.

English success at European level continues

Congratulations to Graeme Robertson and Tom Paske who won the bronze medal in the European Under 25s Pairs Championships. They are pictured with the other medal winners (Graeme is on the left, Tom is 4th from the left).

This adds to the English medal haul this summer, following the success of the teams in the European Championships.

Tom also did well in the Mixed Pairs, finishing sixth with Sarah O'Connor. Sarah then went on finish fifth in the Girls Pairs with Sinead Bird.

England was represented by twenty four juniors across the four events at the European Youth Pairs Championships in Bergausen, Germany. They all acquitted themselves well with most pairs scoring over 50%.

New EBU Calendar

The EBU calendar, showing forthcoming competitions, has been improved and is now live on the site. The different types of event are now clearer and easier to filter, and it is now much easier for you to import the information into your own online calendar (whether you use Google, Apple, Outlook or other calendar). Guidance on how to do this is at the foot of the calendar page.
