Brock & Myers win Portland Pairs

The Portland Pairs took place on Sunday 23rd March and was won by Sally Brock and Barry Myers.

The Portland Pairs is a mixed pairs event, held simultaneously at fifteen venues around England and Wales, and scored across the whole field.

Sally and Barry were the highest scorers at the Richmond heat, and their score improved from 67.02% to 68.17% when scored nationally, giving them top position by nearly three per cent. Rebecca Dickinson & Alan Jarvis finished second, having finished in top place at the Sheffield heat, and Audrey Kueh & Shahzaad Natt finished third, having been placed second at the Richmond heat.

English success at Pakistan International Championships

English teams took the top two places at the recent 2014 Pakistan Day International Bridge Championship. The UK2 team of Jason Hackett, Justin Hackett, Mike Bell and Alex Hydes won convincingly, going through the competition unbeaten. The Barmy Army team of Sandra Penfold, Brian Senior, Tom Paske and Ed Jones claimed second place. In the pairs event which preceded the teams competition, Sandra and Brian finished second.

Join our Really Easy Afternoon at the Easter Festival

At the Easter Festival of Bridge in London, on Friday 18th April, we will hold our first Really Easy Afternoon. We hope that you will join us at this event, or encourage your friends and relatives to take part.

The event is intended as an introduction to 'congress bridge' for those who may have recently learned how to play, or have yet to take the next step in the development of their game. It is open to pairs and individuals, and to EBU members and non-members alike.

It will take place at the Royal National Hotel on Bedford Way in Bloomsbury, just off Russell Square.
