AUG‑18, 13:02		Eddie's Caption Competition. TD Eddie Williams has chosen a winner for his caption competition. The winner was Paul Brayshaw of Plymouth with his suggestion, "And that, ladies and gentlemen, was 'wielding the axe'! I now need a volunteer for the 'entry-shifting squeeze'". Honourable mentions go to "I said cut for partners, not cut my partner" from Tony Ratcliff; "She asked me to cut to see who would sit North" from David Bygott; "That's not how we double round here..." and "Share and relay refers to the boards....", both from Meena Samani. Well done, and thank you to you all for your suggestions.

AUG‑17, 22:08		Congratulations to David Gold, Tony Forrester, Andrew Robson & Alexander Allfrey, winners of the Four Stars Teams. They finished on 91 VPs, three ahead of Jason Hackett, Justin Hackett, Andrew McIntosh & Alistair Kent. Phil King, Cameron Small, Ben Green & John Holland were third on 78 VPs. AUG‑17, 17:32		Laurie & Stephanie Burtt celebrated Laurie's 80th birthday by playing on our Sunday Stratified Swiss Pairs - which they won! Gabriel Ip & Giles Ip had won the Saturday Stratified Swiss Pairs, as well as getting the overall prize for the two days (picture).

AUG‑14, 18:32		Congratulations to Paul Gibbons & Sharon Bayne, winners of the Mixed Pairs Championship with 66.89%. Brian Senior & Ros Wolfarth were second on 62.32%, very narrowly ahead of Ewa Kater & Tom Townsend who scored 62.22% in third. Results
AUG‑15, 09:42		The 2014 Really Easy Congress at Brighton has ended after a great four days of bridge competitions and lessons. Photos from the event, including of some of the winners, are available here. We hope many beginners, and 'congress first-timers', will join us next year.

AUG‑13, 12:29		Wednesday's 'Discuss it with the Experts' seminar featured two of England's Senior European Champions - John Holland and Gunnar Hallberg. The hands clearly gave John plenty to ponder.

AUG‑12, 20:32		The winners of the second competition in the 'First Step' part of the Really Easy Congress were Jeff Taylor & John Taylor (N/S) and David Hawkins & Jill Cousins (E/W). Well done to both pairs. Results
AUG‑12, 16:14		John Williams asked us to pass on his feedback on the timings of the Swiss Pairs over the weekend. In response to feedback the timings had been adjusted to allow for easier access to public transport at the end of the evening. John was pleased to report that the event ran to schedule and he finished in time to catch the penultimate bus from the city centre to the park-and-ride. Even had he played a little slower in the final round he would have been in plenty of time for the final bus. He wished to make it known to those coming in future that using public transport, and/or staying outside the centre of Brighton, is very much an option, and he gave his thanks to the TDs for the revised schedule.
