Description of teacher categories

Associate: Any paid-up member of EBTA can be in this category.

Club Teacher: Teachers who have been on an EBED Club Teacher Training course, which shows they have been trained in using different teaching methods and particularly in teaching using the Bridge for All system and materials.

Full EBTA Member: The first category that requires a formal assessment, which includes an observation of the teacher in action, as well as a test of bridge knowledge and other requirements. Candidates must have attended an EBED Club Teacher Training course.

Professional EBTA Member: EBTA’s highest category of teacher, for which candidates must have five years’ teaching experience, at least two of which must be experience of teaching bridge specifically. Skills are assessed through a six-month Personal Development Log, showing ongoing commitment to teaching excellence, as well as further tests and an interview.
