Don Smedley
Don Smedley (1933 – 2020)
Everyone involved in Derbyshire bridge and many other bridge players from all over Britain who knew him will be saddened to hear of the death of Don Smedley. His first love was chess – he was a Derbyshire youth player – but while doing his National Service he could not find enough opponents to keep him occupied. Most of his comrades played bridge, so he learned the basics and never looked back.

Cecilia Birdsall
I'm Cecilia and live in Winchester with my family and was born in 2010. I took up bridge during lockdown (although I was already playing minibridge for many years previously) with my parents teaching me.
My whole family has played bridge (including grandparents!!) and so it always seemed I would play.
Alongside bridge, I enjoy playing the cello in various orchestras and play cricket for Hampshire. I am also an avid Ski Sunday fan and love skiing in the winter.
