European National & Transnational Youth Pairs Championships July 2023

The 15th European Youth Bridge Pairs Championships will be held at the Conference Centre NH Koningshof in Veldhoven.

This EBL Championship event will be followed by an official youth WBF event, the National Teams Championship, which will start on the 31st July at the same location.

The event will be a European Youth national pairs championship combined with transnational championship and will be open to all players (worldwide) with a transnational format.

These championships will take place according to the following programme:

  • Monday 24th July - Registration & Opening Ceremony
  • Tuesday 25th July 10:00 - Mixed pairs competition / IMP Pairs
  • Wednesday 26th July 10:00 - Mixed pairs competition / IMP Pairs
  • Wednesday 26th July 20:00 - Mixed / IMP pairs Prize-Giving
  • Thursday 27th July 10:00- Pairs qualification sessions
  • Friday 28h July 10:00 - Pairs qualification sessions
  • Saturday 29th July 10:00 - Pairs final sessions
  • Saturday 29th July 10:00 - President’s Cup
  • Saturday 29th July 19:00 - Prize-Giving & Closing Ceremony
  • Friday 28th & Saturday 29th July 10:00 - Youth Coach Seminar 

Format

  • The championship will include participants from five series: U31, U26 Open, U26 Women, U21 and U16
  • The first two days will include a Mixed pairs tournament with a parallel IMP Pairs
  • The EBL Open pairs championship will be organised over the next three days
  • The exact format will be decided according to the registration in each age category

EBL Youth Pairs Championships

Eligibility

  • All tournaments are open to all players from all over the world
  • Transnational pairs will be permitted to participate in all tournaments (two players from different
    country)
  • The events will include ranking for the EBL National title and total ranking of all participants
  • In order to win an EBL National title, both European players should be from the same country

Age restriction

  • Here are the age restrictions per Series:
    • U31 Series - Born on or after 1st January 1993
    • U26 Open & U26 Women Series - Born on or after 1st January 1998
    • U21 Series – Born on or after 1st January 2003
    • U16 Series – Born on or after 1st January 2008
  • Please also note that there will be NO age restriction exemptions for this EBL event

EBL Youth coach seminar

  • Following the success of the previous Youth Coach Seminars, these Championships will again include a
    two-day Youth Coach Seminar
  • The EBL will cover 3 nights of accommodation for EBL's NBO's officials (arrival on the 27th and departure
    on the 30th July)
  • The Seminar is free of charge with a maximum of two participants per NBO; participants only pay for
    their travel
  • EBL highly recommends that EBL's NBO representatives be sent to the Youth Coach Seminar. These may
    be youth coordinators, coaches, or any related officials.
