Following a review, the EBU Safeguarding Policy has been updated. Whilst bridge is predominantly an adult pursuit there are a significant number of young people who take part in our activities. The EBU have therefore appointed a new Safeguarding Officer, Abbey Smith. Abbey will act as a point of contact for Safeguarding queries, safeguarding@ebu.co.uk.
The EBU Safeguarding Policy gives full details of what to expect from anyone who is involved in running a bridge activity where young people are present and applies equally to vulnerable adults. The policy applies to events directly organised by English Bridge Union. Although not a requirement, county associations and affiliated clubs of the EBU should consider having their own safeguarding policies. Any county or club organising an activity including those under 18, or any vulnerable adults, is welcome to use the policy for guidance.
